This Nissan can burn rubber – as well as records!
The street-legal Nissan R 35 GTR, dubbed the Alpha Omega, is a 2,000-horsepower brute that can zip from zero to 60 in a mind-boggling 1.53 seconds.
“The car quite literally takes your breath away,” said Eric Gaudi, 37, general manager at AMS Performance, which built the speedster in 2012 in Chicago, according to Barcroft Media.
“Omega is actually the quickest and fastest GTR in the quarter-mile, posting a best time of 7.70 seconds, best speed of 190 mph.”
The Alpha Omega also holds the standing half-mile record: 224.91 mph.
AMS has used the car as a guinea pig for other parts and products.
“Our customers have benefited from the packages greatly and some have gotten close to the times and performance numbers that Omega has put down,” Gaudi said. “However as it sits today, Omega is still the top of the food chain.”
The car’s specs include a 4.0-liter, big bore V6 engine and CNC, ported cylinder heads, Barcroft reported.
Despite the car’s staggering stats, it is completely street legal.
“The Alpha Omega is by no means a gutted race car,” Gaudi said. “It has full interior, power windows, all the accessories you would associate with a street car.”
He added: “Imagine going zero to 190 mph in less than four city blocks … that is something no production car can even come close to.”
